*Please note: Only the owner of the certified MBE company may nominate and vote for MBEIC Officers.
About the MBEIC
The Minority Business Enterprise Input Committee (MBEIC) is a standing committee of Pacific Southwest MSDC and represents over 300 certified MBEs in the region of Arizona and San Diego County. As the liaison between the Council’s corporate members and the voice of the MBE community, the MBEIC offers the Council constructive and solution-oriented input on issues affecting minority-owned businesses, and to promote Council programs and activities in furtherance of its goals to promote minority economic development.
Officer Open Positions (4) & Responsibilities
Chair – Oversees the MBEIC, MBE subcommittees and industry groups, conducts monthly MBEIC meetings and is a voting member of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. The Chair must attend the four (4) NMSDC Quarterly Meetings – 3 quarterly and 1 National Conference.
Vice Chair Arizona – The Vice-Chair shall support the elected MBEIC Chair and perform the duties of the Chair in his/her absence as identified. The Vice-Chair may serve on the PSWMSDC Board of Directors and has voting rights only during the MBEIC Chair’s absence.

Secretary – The Secretary shall perform all duties incident to the office of Secretary and such other duties as may be agreed upon from time to time with the MBEIC Chair. The Secretary shall keep the minutes and attendance of the MBEIC meetings. The Secretary shall maintain a file of all essential correspondence of the committee. The Secretary shall keep a roster of members of the MBEIC. The Secretary shall provide timely notices and agendas of all meetings.
As an MBEIC Officer, you will be required to perform the following:
Attend all MBE Input Committee Meetings and/or Conference Calls (1 meeting per month)
The member cannot miss more than two consecutive meetings and no more than three meetings in a year (whether the absence is excused or unexcused).
Support all Pacific Southwest MSDC activities and increase awareness of programs
Make the interest of the Pacific Southwest MSDC certified MBEs a priority
Demonstrate commitment to Pacific Southwest MDSC and interest in MBE Advocacy
Should be Council Certified for a minimum of six months
Commitment to Ethical Conduct
Share at least two success stories per year on how you lead an MBE to become certified
Agree to either Exhibit at the Business Expo or be an Event Sponsor, or contribute with 2,000 dollars annually or help bring in 3 new MBEs for certification
Must be able to:
Commit to serve a complete term in office usually a minimum of three (3) years.
Develop a strong, supportive working relationship with the PSWMSDC Board, Chairs and President.

MBEIC Election Process
Step 1. Election process opens. [November 15-November 27]. Nominations close November 28, 11:59 pm PST
Step 2. PSWMSDC will collect nominations [Nov 29]
Step 3. PSWMSDC will disseminate nominations and hand over management of elections to the Election Committee [Nov 29]
Step 4. The Election Committee counts and totals the nominations [Nov 30]
Step 5. The Election Committee will send notification of day & time to top nominees [Dec 1]
Step 6. The top nominees for each position will present to all Pacific Southwest MSDC MBEs for election [Dec 4]
Step 7. MBES vote electronically and in-person in San Diego/AZ Offices [Dec 4]. Elections close December 4, 11:59 pm PST
Step 8. The Election Committee will tally votes, and initial winners will be announced by email [Dec 6]

The 2018 – 2020 Election Committee is comprised of PSWMSDC Subscribers. Subscribers are certified MBEs at affiliate councils that subscribe to PSWMSDC’s services. Subscribers are ineligible to serve as officers on the MBEIC.
